The rooms were clean, great place to stay. The food was okay and service a little slow.

We had an evening meal the food was well presented and perfectly cooked but the menu was limited. There was a good selection for breakfast cooked and continental.

We loved this place! We did the two bedroom apartment room and it was much bigger than we thoughts. Everything was adorable and antique. The staff was incredibly kind. We were only there one night and all of us wished we had stayed more.

Beautiful hotel in the center of Derry with first class service. We spent 1 night in a very comfortable room. I want to especially thank Edel at the front desk who went out of her way with personalized attention. She could not have been more kind and helpful! She recommended a 30 minute guided walking tour of the city which I highly recommend.

One of our favourtie places we stayed over our 9 week European adventure. The staff was totally awesome, the facilities were wonderful and the apartment was fantastic. I say go for it. You're on vacation so splurge a little.

We stayed in three hotels while in the Republic and Northern Ireland and Bishop's Gate Hotel was by far the best of all. It is a cozy hotel located in the heart of Derry- a great city unto itself. One can easily get around on foot to walk the walls or access other locations. The room was a very comfortable home base for our trip to Derry. The dinner at the restaurant was among the top meals we had in Ireland. Do not miss a chance to enjoy dinner. Staff was the best. We were beat when we arrived. Staff gladly got us some tea and coffee for a quick refreshment and our room was ready in minutes although we showed up quite early. I will definitely return to Derry and this hotel.

The Bishop’s Gate Hotel is located . . . drum roll please . . . by the Bishop’s Gate in Derry. That makes it not only easy to find, but also convenient to walk the walls and to see much of the central city easily. The hotel has valet parking, but we used an enclosed lot about 200 feet down the street. This is a boutique hotel. We were warmly greeted and immediately given helpful tips about the area. Our room was possibly on the small side, but comfortable and with elegant and interesting design elements. Take advantage of the location to explore the walls, which are about a mile around the town center and have many terrific views. From this location, the walk is much easier if you go in a clockwise direction, which will also take you past the “Derry Girls” mural. We enjoyed our stay here, but what really made it great was the charming and friendly staff. We felt more like invited guests than hotel customers. What a great place!

This was the most beautiful setting for an afternoon tea. Staff were so attentive and kind to us all. Family group of 16 so we had a private room. The savoury plates were ideal as the starter and then 4 items of each sweet treat arrived, as many pots of tea and coffee as was needed. Room booked for 3 hours which is perfect time. Definitely would recommend this fantastic hotel for a get together

Featured in Ireland’s Blue Book, this beautifully restored Edwardian building is a unique and luxurious base right in the heart of the city. With thirty-one guestrooms, two suites and self-contained apartments, each room at Bishop’s Gate Hotel is a delight. Our penthouse suite was the last word in charm and character, reflecting the heritage and style of Forman, the architect who remodelled the building at the turn of the last century, and was renowned for his quirky attention to detail. The Gown has an elegantly charming interior, with its sage green wall panelling and original architectural features, and we enjoyed a terrific Sunday lunch, from the set menu. To start, the Chicken & Bacon Caesar Salad with Baby Gem Leaves, Parmesan Shavings, & Croutons was light and refreshing, and the golden Greencastle Catch Fishcake was served with a Smoked Salmon Salad & Chunky Tartar Sauce. Our main courses were a moist Pan Seared Fillet of Salmon with Pea Puree & Buttered Greens, and a superb vegetarian dish of Potato Gnocchi in a Mushroom & Spinach Cream. To finish, we shared a luxurious Vanilla & Raspberry Pannacotta with Chantilly cream and fresh berries. Our meal was accompanied by a glass each of Jack Francis "Gloaming Rime" Gruner Veltliner, and "Fairy Rust" Sankt Laurent Zweigelt, wonderful organic wines crafted in Austria by local wine maker Jack McAteer. And why not relax in the Wig Champagne Bar with its theatrically unique legal-themed décor, for a cocktail or two: the Negroni & Old Fashioned were both top notch. Sunday Lunch at The Gown is available from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM.

We have had such a lovely experience staying here, we stayed in one of the apartments which is very spacious and clean, the beds are so comfortable and every little detail is covered in case we needed anything, We also ate at the hotel for breakfast and dinner which we cannot fault with the service or quality. The staff were so professional and approachable , the Concierge whose name is Kaysi was delightful and she ensured our stay was as relaxing as possible no job was too big for her. We will definitely be back, Thanks Kaysi and all the staff of Bishops Gate Hotel

Lovely hotel in great location.

Very central hotel, beautifully presented and very clean

We were in an apartment - offsite to the main hotel. The size of the apartment was very good but as we stayed only the one night didn't get to utilise the whole apartment. Breakfast in the hotel was good with reasonable options. Staff were very helpful with instructions and taking bags to rooms etc. Very central to the main part of town and easily walking distance to most places of interest.

I would give 5 stars to this hotel for its staff, accommodations, food and location. We would definitely stay here again the next time we visit Derry/Londonderry..

It was ok but derry let it down!! A place to stop but not to return to

Beautiful property with a great location - we were able to walk to the Peace Bridge and to the Walled City brewery. The staff are exceptional and the food we had was very good. Our only issue was that it was not air conditioned and our room was warm even though it was quite cool outside. Otherwise it's a gem of a little hotel.

This hotel, situated within the old walled city of Derry, is outstanding. The staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful. Rooms are large and well appointed and spotless. Our room had a large walk-in shower. Public spaces are comfortable and welcoming. We attended a private dinner in one of their dining rooms, and the food was well presented and plentiful. Breakfast was made to order. I can see why this gets such high scores. Unsurprisingly, it isn’t cheap, but you get what you pay for.

The hotel was in a fantastic location. It had everything you needed and the staff from the minute you walked in the door were exceptional. Friendly, very helpful and professional.

A fantastic team of people were exemplary , they are running a great hotel …..you won’t be disappointed if you stay at this hotel.

Stayed in one of the hotel apartments which at first impression looked great. BUT the double bed felt very small and we aren’t used to being in a small bed. It was too hard for our preference and the duvet was thin and quite unpleasant. There were two shining lights in the ceiling which didn’t switch off. And they were ridiculously bright for trying to sleep. Went to the loo in the middle of the night and the only light was the main one which threw me into something akin to an operating theatre. Completely enclosed bathroom with no windows so it was truly pitch black and really needs a night light. It’s such a shame that these very fixable problems spoiled a lovely visit. Without these annoyances the room was great and had a completely separate kitchen and living room which we didn’t use but it would have enhanced the experience. We did give feedback upon checking out and the receptionist kindly removed our nightcap drink from the bill. I hope the hotel might look at these issues and sort them out.

What a charming, comfortable and lovely place to stay! The staff were exquisite and the room was so delightful! Great water pressure, the windows opened and the hair dryer was so great! Certainly made things more comfortable so far from home!

Lovely hotel made outstanding by the service given by Kaysi and her team. Arriving cold and wet from walking in Donegal, we couldn't reach the hotel by car as St Patrick's Day celebrations closed the roads. Kaysi walked out in the rain to meet us, took charge of the car and pointed us in the direction of food and comfort. Her team gave hints of where to explore and we spent a super afternoon and evening discovering Derry and enjoying the celebrations. The staff are a great credit to a very good hotel.

The property was really spacious. The online photos don’t do it justice. They even had fresh milk in the fridge. Really comfortable beds. Really close to local bars and nightlife. Staff really friendly and always happy to help.

You need to stay at the Bishopsgate if in Derry. We live in Derry and stay here for its location, warmth and high level of hospitality. Its a boost for the soul. It is a great central but quiet location. The decor is on point, the restaurant and bar high quality and the rooms charming. The staff are friendly, and the best of craic

What a find ! This wonderful hotel is in a historic building that has been sympathetically restored into a luxury hotel whilst still retaining its historical importance every major sight is on your doorstep, fully walkable, once leaving the hotel you can be standing on the historic walls within moments We have been lucky enough for stay in all the categories of the rooms previously but this time we stayed in a suite which was just so amazing Professional & welcoming team, thank you to Kaysei & all the team in front office for another memorable stay Breakfast was lovely, great selection of cereals, pastries, juices etc & a freshly cooked breakfast also .. yum ! If you don’t manage to be lucky enough secure a room at the Bishop’s Gate for your stay then do at least have dinner in the restaurant or drinks in the bar when visiting this town For comfort, service & location this is the best hotel in town without a doubt

A perfect experience in every regard - the warm welcome, convenient valet parking by Patrick, excellent dinner served by a friendly team of efficient staff and rounded off with a high quality breakfast before departure. We had a superb stay here for the first night of our honeymoon. Robyn on reception was so friendly, helpful and professional before and at check in, and at checkout. Room 501 was beautiful and had a little balcony where we enjoyed morning coffee in the sun. Room service was prompt, food quality excellent and overall great value with a lovely upgrade thrown in! A new favourite !

From arrival until departure, our experience in Bishops Gate Hotel, was *****.. We were very warmly welcomed at Reception for check in and assigned our rooms, and Patrick took up our luggage to the rooms, so thank you Patrick.Rooms are beautifully & individually appointed and spotlessly clean. As part of our package, it included dining in the hotel, and our first nights dining experience was *****. Food, Staff, Service, *****. Breakfast the next morning was wonderful too, with food, plates hot and staff *****. Second evening dining was also a culinary delight, with food, staff *****. On our last morning we all had the fry with me opting for mini fry and it was delicious, so once again thank you to Team Gown for our culinary dining experiences. On behalf of us all, we wish to convey our gratitude to every member of Team Bishops Gate Hotel, we engaged with. Bishops Gate Hotel, is really in a hospitality league of its own, and we wish tne newly opened The Bedford Hotel, Belfast success in this regard also.

Went for afternoon tea with friends yesterday & had the most lovely time. The service couldn’t have been better and all of the food was amazing. So fresh & plenty of variety!

This was our first time to stay in the hotel. We enjoyed three nights and can only repeat the glowing reviews posted already. The room was excellent - full marks for cleanliness and presentation. Staff were top notch - welcoming and definitely well trained, helpful without being any way overbearing. It was a real delight to enjoy. Food in the restaurant was superb and the breakfasts definitely set us up each day. This hotel absolutely merits its entry in The Blue Book. We could not find any fault with it. thank you for a lovely stay !

Just checked out after another stay at Bishops Gate. It was lovely to be back and experience how a hotel should be run. Very friendly helpful staff, beautiful rooms so well maintained and delicious food. This time we brought my brother & sister in law as they were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They had a beautiful larger room with a congratulations card & cake. Dinner was so good and breakfast tasty. It's our go to hotel when visiting this area. Thank you for making it special.

It was clean and tidy and the hotel is in a suburb location with only a short walking distance to the local bars and restaurants. The concierge was an absolute gentleman who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. I highly recommend the Bishop’s gate hotel, and cannot wait to go back.

We found this boutique hotel on Booking.com. It was one of their higher ratings and there is now no doubt as to why! The location was perfect. Right inside of The Bishops Gate, 100 meters from the center of the walled city. As soon as you walked in, you could tell the establishment was exquisitely ( not a word I use often or lightly) appointed! We were greeted by Stephanie who was AMAZING! She is the queen of hospitality! This establishment was a 5/5, but any place she woke at would automatically be a 5/5. Just an amazing lady! The rooms were plush, cozy and well outfitted for amenities. They had plenty of dogs paintings in the reception area, grand staircase and restaurant. It was so clever. There was a nice workout room if you are so inclined. The restaurant was exceptional. A great selection of staters, mains and sides. The bruschetta and potato leek soup were great starters. I had the rack of lamb, my wife the filet. Both outstanding. One of the best services that the staff provided was valet parking for £18. In an old city like this one, that’s practically giving the service away. We gave them the car when we checked in, and they held our car and bags the next day for a few hours after we checked out so we could do some sightseeing. Who else does that? Only the folks at the Bishops Gate! I can’t wait to go back.

It’s a beautiful building and very well set out. We had an accessible room due to my mother’s mobility and it was excellent. The thing that sets this hotel apart from many others is the wonderful staff - Stephanie and Kayci on reception were fabulous and nothing was too much trouble. They looked after us so well as did Michael in the restaurant/bar. All the staff were helpful and polite and super keen to ensure you had the best stay and we did. Second time we’ve stayed there and we will be back. Thanks all xx

Stayed in the Bishops Gate hotel last night with my daughter and it was absolutely fantastic. From the minute we arrived the staff were so welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant last night and breakfast this morning was fantastic. Couldn’t fault it in any way and will def be booking another stay asap!

Room was spacious. However we we not warned that the room was wheelchair accessible. We had coffee and scone on arrival which was delicious. Ladies at check-in were very friendly and helpful as the room was not handed back when we arrived. When room was available the check-in staff organised our luggage in the room

We had a wonderful stay again at Bishops Gate Hotel and we were absolutely delighted to be upgraded for our special birthday by an upgrade to the Penthouse suite . The food was delicious as always, but it is the warmth and helpfulness of all your staff that is the Jewell in your crown!! See you next year !
